The Oklahoma Gazette talks to Davenport and Powell about the record-breaking candidate filing period

Laura Eastes of the record number of candidates doesn’t necessarily mean more competitive elections. Rose State political science professor James Davenport points out that there doesn’t appear to be an increase in competitive races, and Chris Powell notes that the increased filing fees, more than doubling for state legislature, reduced the number of alternative candidates.
